The Clinnova Report Basel 2024–2025 marks more than just another milestone — it represents a living story of how an ambitious idea became a functioning ecosystem driving the future of precision medicine in Europe.
From the very beginning, Clinnova has stood for one purpose: to federate medicine acrossborders. What started as a vision for secure, data-driven collaboration has evolved into a tangible reality uniting Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, and Germany around one shared goal to make healthcare more personalized, connected, and intelligent.
At the heart of the Clinnova progress lies an unwavering belief: data should work for people. This philosophy guides every effort from recruiting patients and launching innovative digital tools like the dreaMS app, to implementing the Neurostatus eEDSS framework, to building the cross-border infrastructure that allows data to stay private while knowledge is shared.
Clinnova Basel’s achievements 2024-2025 include:
As highlighted in the report, Clinnova Basel has emerged as a frontrunner in Europe’s effort to transform healthcare through data-powered, patient-centered innovation. Supported by the Canton of Basel-Stadt and key institutional partners the University of Basel, University Hospital Basel, and RC2NB the Basel team is leading the development of a secure, interoperable data environment for precision medicine.
This environment is now expanding through the creation of a Federated Network of Data Integration Centres, ensuring that hospitals and research institutions can collaborate safely without ever sharing sensitive patient data.
The Clinnova Report Basel 2024–2025 was ideated and crafted by Dr. Bebeka Cosandey, whose leadership and vision brought the initiative to life. Under her coordination, the report weaves together scientific achievements, digital innovation, and human stories, illustrating how collaboration and trust can redefine the landscape of personalized medicine.
The coming years will focus on scaling patient cohorts, advancing AI models, and launching clinical pilots of AI-powered decision-support tools for MS, IBD, and RA. With each milestone, Clinnova strengthens its role as a European reference ecosystem for responsible digital health innovation that combines technical excellence with patient trust.
As Prof. Cristina Granziera, Principal Investigator of Clinnova Basel and Co-CEO of RC2NB puts it:
“Clinnova shows that we no longer have to choose between privacy and progress. From building federated infrastructure to launching innovative tools and recruiting patients across borders, we are proving that collaboration and trust can drive true innovation.”
